I was working on something yesterday. Suddenly, my sister shouted at me, “OH MY GOD! You have to look at this! We can get free donuts everywhere….”
I stopped working and looked up what was happening.
You know what? It was a NATIONAL DONUT DAY!
I said sadly to my sister, “No waay. It was…. on June 1st.”

A little bit story of the National Donut Day. People in America are celebrating this day as a tribute to The Salvation Army’s members in Chicago in 1938, who were voluntarily making donuts to soldiers during World War I. They wanted the soldiers to feel “home” by giving them donuts instead of cigarettes. Lots of American donuts stores, like Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kreme, give free donuts on June 1st.

But, we finally bought a box of donuts!
