Hello guys!
Today, I am going to do a little review of my new favourite item: Supreme’s oversized short trousers.
Do you call it Bermuda shorts? Or should we call it cargo short trousers?
Let’s go back in time to 1914, where the invention of the short trousers began.
A tea shop owner in Bermuda, a British Overseas Territory, named Nathaniel Coxon, shortened his trousers’ employees one time because the weather was too hot in summer. Seeing what happened, the British Army, which was stationed in Bermuda, adopted that idea to transform its long military trousers uniform into the short version, which became part of its uniform. They wore it during World War I in tropical and desert climates.
It became a pivotal moment when the military uniform was adopted as casual wear. Especially in the UK, we almost see everyone wearing short trousers during the summer, and they call them Bermuda shorts. The Bermuda shorts have a fitted, tailored shape, and are usually knee-length or slightly above-knee-length.
As Bermuda shorts spread widely around the world, reaching different people, with different needs and lifestyles, many styles of these shorts were born and continue to be. You name it. Baggy fit with lots of cargo pockets on the short trousers, they call it cargo short trousers. There are denim shorts, biker shorts, a bloomer, boyfriend-cut short trousers, and even culottes. They all come in different lengths, designs, colours, and fabrications.
The thing that caught my attention the most when I saw this shorts from Supreme is the colour. I never saw a salmon pink, almost pale, slightly orangey if you like, in denim for a trouser before. The colour suits both females and males. The fit is oversized. Its construction really is an adoption of classic denim-jeans construction. With five pockets, even with the coin pocket at the front which I think is very useful, you can wear this shorts with anything. And oh, I thought, it is a great investment for my wardrobe. Whether the weather is cold or hot, you can wear the shorts anytime really, depending on how you style it with.
Pink on Pink
Wearing the same colour for your top and bottom could never go wrong. It is a monochromatic outfit. Bright pink for the top and salmon pink for the bottom. Superb. Not to mention that I love combining different textures together. Pink leather shirt from Topshop + denim short trousers from Supreme, and on top of that, I wore a baggy blue denim jacket from GAP.

Another tip to create a cohesive look is that you sometimes need to wear the same fabrics on your outfit. Like I just did. I chose the blue denim jacket as my outerwear. Since the top and bottom of my outfit are just plain without any prints or embellishment, I wanted to bring out the fun and cheerful side that you grasp from the colours by wearing the one and only shoes from Irregular Choice. The shoes have fur, embroidery of some Disney characters, laces in different colour ways, and they are just so cute with the pop of yellow colour.

StreetY
Most of the time, the outfit that I created is unintentional. I tend to pick one item that I really want to wear on the day, then build other things on top of that. Sometimes I listen to hip-hop or R&B songs or songs from Yoasobi to bring out the mood while I am choosing what items I should pair it with. And that process resulted in this look. StreetY.
It has a streetwear vibe, but you can also see a little bit of a feminist side from the headband and earrings I wore, and a little bit of tomboy, as seen in the spider web top with a green sweater, but still with my own character, who likes a pop of colour on the outfit.

La guerre
La guerre is a French word, meaning war, conflict, or battle. Throwing different colours, different shapes, design lines, and different lengths at once (with consideration) like you are in a war, and voila it becomes a look. That day was very, very cold. Instead of wearing one piece of a winter jacket, gosh, I am obsessed with doing layers on my outfit.

Inside is a magenta and blue sweater, covered with a grey denim vest, the third layer is baby blue and white knitwear from Yitai, and finally, the fourth layer is a long outerwear from Zara. I was wearing black boots from Dr. Martens to tone down all the colours.
How do I choose the colour? I was looking at each colour and how they complement other colours. Like building a colour palette almost. You can pick any colour you want. You and I are different. We have different personalities, tastes, and styles. Trust your judgement and your instinct to pick the colours will come through. There is no right or wrong in this game of layers. It is a matter of the vibe of the whole look you want to create and wear.
